Due to the rising positive cases of Covid-19, CBSE Class 10 board exams have been cancelled and Class 12 board exams have been postponed. On Wednesday, at a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this decision was taken. Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhariyal ‘Nishank’, Education Secretary, School, and Higher Education Secretaries, and other top government officials attend the meeting.
# CBSE Class 10 Exam Cancelled
Board Exams for Class 10th were to be held from 4 May to 14 June 2021. The 10th class exams are hereby cancelled. The results will be prepared on the basis of an objective criterion to be developed by the CBSE. According to the board if any candidate will not be satisfied with the marks allocated according to this scheme then they will be given a prospect to sit in an exam when the conditions will be favorable to conduct the examinations.
# Class 12 Board Exams Have Been Postponed
Moreover, the class 12 exam has been postponed which was to be held from 4 May to 14 June 2021. The board will review the situation on June 1, 2021, and details will be shared afterward. As per the board, they will give prior notice of at least 15 days before the starting of the examinations.
There were many politicians and well-known personalities who were asking to cancel the exams due to the pandemic. Now, all the students and parents are tension-free. After reviewing all the situation higher authorities came to this decision.
In the year 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic Class 12 exams were also suffered. Then also the board declares the results by an alternative assessment scheme. According to the official data shared by CBSE, in the year 2021, about 21. 5 lakh students were about to give exams for the class 10th exams. For class 12th exams registration of approximately 14 lakh students is there. Furthermore, after the cancellation of CBSE Board Exams for Class 10 and 12, all eyes are on ICSE and ISC Board exams.
Apart from this, various state boards have already taken decisions on the postponement of the state board examinations. The Delhi and Maharashtra governments had requested the central government the cancellation of CBSE Board Exam 2021. As of now, CBSE Class 10 exam cancelled as well as the Class 12 exam has been postponed.
Earlier, The Delhi CM, Arvind Kejriwal also tweeted urging the cancellation of the CBSE Board Exam 2021. Now, Arvind Kejriwal thanked the center through his tweet. He tweeted ‘I am glad that the CBSE Board exams 2021 cancel/postpone. This is a great relief for lakhs of students as well as their parents.’
According to the Press note, ‘In many states, the pandemic situation is seeing a resurgence of COVID 19 positive cases, and few states have more cases in comparison to the others. So, in this situation, in 11 states schools have been shut down. Different from State Boards, CBSE has an all-India character. Thus, it is vital to hold exams at the same time all through the country. Therefore, the decision for canceling the class 10th board and postpone the class 12th board exams have been taken.’
