Luang Prabang

Luang Prabang is quite different to Vientiane, the capital, and Vang Vieng. It’s more beautiful for one, but it has also retained its elegance and history despite an increasing interest from tourists visiting Laos.

Here are some luxurious and interesting activities to undertake with a visit to Luang Prabang.

Touch of Luxury with Laotian Style

When looking for a Hotel Luang Prabang, swimming pool provided, then you want to head out to the luxurious Kiridara Luang Prabang hotel. It has an expansion pool surrounded by lush trees and views in all direction. There are plenty of places to sit by the pool to relax and take a dip when you feel like it.

The interiors will make you feel right at home too. Their Lao style furniture and comforts make a stay here most pleasant indeed. There are rooms, suites and villas available at Kiridara depending on how many people there are in your group and what square footage you need. As well as having a well-respected restaurant of their own, other dining experiences are just a short distance away too.

Luang Prabang Night Market

The Luang Prabang night market is a fun place to spend some time in the evening. It opens up at 5pm and continues until quite late. Sellers there offer their wares including arts and crafts, hill-tribe inspired items, jewelry, carvings and various knickknacks too.

It’s a popular market, so there’s also plenty of activity and great snaps to take for Instagram. It’s also good to bargain politely but firmly to get the price down to something reasonable if you’re looking to buy. This market located in Sisavangvong Road, which also has a few places to eat affordably.

Kuang Si Waterfalls

The Kuang Si Waterfalls are a significant attraction near Luang Prabang and an excellent way to get out of the city for a while too. There are plenty of tours that go out to these waterfalls and perhaps some other bundled attractions nearby too. Alternatively, you can rent a motorbike or get a negotiated tuk-tuk ride where the driver will often wait for you, by agreement.

When going to these waterfalls, you have a choice whether to visit them and then leave, or, be more adventurous. If traveling in the early morning, you get a jump on the crowds. As well as taking in the views on the ground, it’s also possible to ascend behind the falls to explore the surrounding area. You’ll discover wading pools for sure and a few smaller waterfalls sprinkled in for good measure. Also, there are caves near the top that are explorable too.

Bowling!

The Luang Prabang bowling alley is spoken about in hush tones because it’s one of the few places that’s open late. Along with the bowling activities, the bar is busy and runs until near closing time at 2:30am. Partaking in some Lao whiskey only costs a few dollars per bottle, but you might wake up with a hangover the next morning. There are tuk-tuks and motorbike taxis usually waiting outside to take you back to where you’re staying.

Spending time in Luang Prabang, it’s a slower pace than other places in Laos. But this is part of the attraction along with the Laos architecture and the politeness of the people.
